AUTOMOTIVE CONTROLLER

Automotive Controller Overview

The image shows a 3D model of a universal controller with sufficient I/O capability for wide variety of tasks commonly found in drivetrain control systems.

The device has a sealed enclosure to support under-bonnet installation, and has been designed to support 12V or 24V applications which require higher safety-criticality.

The operating temperature for the device is -40C to 105C.

Initial samples were delivered to Elsense from our supplier in January 2019.

    Wide input voltage range 8-40V

For 12/24V automotive applications, we've designed the hardware to support a wide battery input voltage range.

The unit is equipped  with surge-stopping circuitry which is designed to be hard to ISO7637 transients.

    Communications Interfaces

    Wide input voltage range 8-40V

    Wide input voltage range 8-40V

The controller supports 3 separate CAN links and 1 LIN interface.

All communications interfaces allow 'through-cable' connections to reduce harness complexity.

    Rugged Componentry

    Rugged Componentry

    • 6 x Analogue inputs designed for 0-5V sensors
    • 2 x Inputs for current-sourcing speed sensors including diagnostics
    • 4 Digital speed or PWM inputs
    • 2 Dual-side 0-3A PWM outputs with current feedback for control of hydraulic/pneumatic valves
    • 1 x B6 Brushless motor drive supporting phase currents up to 50A
    • 2 x 5V supply outputs for powering sensors

    Automotive Controller Overview

We received the controllers in January 2019, and began testing to make sure the MCU and all the I/O worked as anticipated.

We're pleased to report all was well. We've developed a complete set of low-level software and CAN-based bootloader code to support any kind of driveline application.

We support datalogging, calibration and re-programming via the XCP protocol. We use commerically-available development tools to directly connect with the unit when it is running executable code.

We continue to develop high-level software to run on this, and our other controllers.

If your application matches with the I/O specification above, and you need a controller for your system  - talk to us about using this device.
